2018-19 Crossfire Select Tryouts

All age groups will have 2 days of tryouts and it's highly recommended that players attend both days. If you're unable to attend both days, please notify the administrators at the time of check in. Players can register for their own birth year, or tryout for an older age group. Players cannot tryout for younger age groups.

Pre-registration is strongly encouraged to ensure a quick check-in process at tryouts. There is a $15 registration fee to pre-register, and it's $20 to register on the day of tryouts.

All registration must be completed online

Crossfire Select Tryout Information

Crossfire Select is a competitive soccer program and uses a player-tryout selection process to form teams that can compete at the highest possible levels. Skill on the field is an important factor, but other, less quantitative factors are considered such as attitude, vision and, work-ethic. Find more information about the Crossfire Select Program.

Tryout Registration

Pre-registration is strongly encouraged to ensure a quick check-in process at tryouts. You will need to create an account online before you register if you do not already have one.

Players register for a single age group within their gender. Players are permitted to tryout for an older age group, but may not tryout for a younger age group. Trying out for multiple age groups or for both Crossfire Premier and Crossfire Select requires multiple independent registrations. There is a pre-registration fee of $15 online or $20 online the day of tryouts. Players who want to attend additional tryouts, must bring a printed confirmation of their registration to the field.

If there is a reason you need to request a specific coach, please fill out and return the Team Preference form. Please note that indication of preference is not a guarantee of placement on the team. Requests must be received 7 days prior to the tryout date.

Players register for a single age group within their gender. Players are permitted to try out for an older age group but may not try out for a younger age group. Trying out for multiple age groups or for both Crossfire Premier and Crossfire Select requires multiple independent registrations.

What to Wear and Bring

Players must wear appropriate soccer footwear, wear shin guards and bring water. Players may not wear jewelry of any kind. This includes necklaces, rings, earrings, or bracelets of any kind (including rubber bracelets). Players may not wear current club or ODP affiliated clothing. This includes Crossfire Premier and Crossfire Select clothing. Players doing so may be asked to remove such items during tryouts.

Weather

Tryouts are held rain or shine.

Time and Duration

Tryouts consist of two sessions. If you cannot make both days you must notify the tryout coordinators and coaches for your respective age group as soon as possible. Tryout sessions are 90 minutes.

Check In

Please arrive 15-20 minutes early to check in. Each player will receive a jersey bearing their tryout number on the first day. Players must return the jersey after each session and use the same-numbered jersey on following day.

Tryout Format

The tryout itself is similar to a practice. Players are divided into groups and run through individual drills. Players will be given water breaks and will stay in the tryout area the entire time. There are multiple evaluators managing the tryout. Some of the evaluators are coaches for the age group and gender being evaluated.

Other Crossfire Select coaches and assistant coaches may also assist during the tryouts. Evaluators take notes of players' performance and exchange feedback. All feedback is then gathered and given to the coaches of the teams being formed. Those coaches are responsible for making the final decisions.

Player Notification and Player Acceptance

Player selection will be posted on the Crossfire Select website. Players will be noted by their assigned jersey numbers from tryouts. Numbers are usually posted within 48 hours after tryouts. Players need to respond to the coach via email within 24 hours of the results being posted, either accepting or declining the position. Failure to respond may mean that the coach offers the position to an alternate player.

Some coaches will post alternate numbers. These players have not been selected for a team, but if a selected player declines an invitation, an alternate player may be invited to join the team. Alternate numbers are listed in numerical order. (Being first in the list of alternates does not necessarily indicate that that player will be the first player selected in the event a players declines.)
